Every one talks about Retail Therapy. I can see how women love to shop and shopping for new clothing can assist in feeling better about your self-image. I am a woman too, I understand. But there is nothing worse than “all dressed up and nowhere to go” syndrome. Especially in times of a recession, we can’t afford to be buying things that we are not going to wear. Or only wear that piece once.
So here is my challenge to you…
Try “Fashion Therapy”. Go through your closet, again. I know that I mention this often, but only keep the clothes that you are going to actually wear. With less clothing cluttering your closet, you will discover fashion items already in your possession. Wear them.
If you ever feel bored of your wardrobe try “Fashion Therapy”. I do it all the time. It is also called “Window Shopping”. Pretend that you are going to buy something. Look around and even try on pieces that you like, but would never buy. Spend a few minuits trying it on and looking at yourself in the mirror. Get over the rush of actually buying it and move on to another stores. Have some fun experimenting on new pieces. Fashion Therapy is free!
Do you do Fashion Therapy?

Anyone can reinvent themselves and still be Happy.

Now that your New Year’s resolutions list has gone missing, it is time to really think about how you want to present yourself this year. Same old? Or a little refreshed? It is never to late to update yourself.
Be good to yourself. Make the time to be presentable to your peers. It can go a long way towards improving your self-esteem. It does not have to take hours nor do you have to spend lots of money. Wearing clean, properly fitting and as fashionable as you like clothing, automatically makes you attractive to people and in turn makes you feel good about yourself. It is that simple.
I used to wake up in the morning and think what am I going to wear today? Is anything even washed? By the time I got the kids ready to go out the door, I pretty much still had my pyjamas on, or something that looked like it. Having worked in the fashion industry my whole professional life, I became embarrassed at how I was now representing myself. It was time to think about myself as well.
Think about it. What is your style? Are you yoga laid back? Are you city chic? Are you a part time professional? Or are you plain Jane, just wanting to wear new clothes. Or, perhaps just like all of us, our bodies have changed and our old clothes don’t fit anymore. No shame in that. Bodies change, dispositions change and so does our lifestyle. Being a mother involves change and adaptation.
I know that most people don’t think that fashion is a health issue. I agree, it is not, but feeling good about yourself, is a health issue. Don’t you agree?
What do you wear that makes you feel like one million bucks?

There are no two ways about it. I am not a morning person. Just ask my husband. Getting the kids to school on time is my only priority. I do my best to look acceptable, not look my best.
But that should not be the excuse for the rest of the day. Sure, we are allowed to have a day off every once in a while. We are not slaves to fashion. And as mothers, we should respect each other and the individual challenges we face.
But generally speaking, get it together.
What do you wish disappear off your bodyand come back as new and improved?

After waking up, the first thing I put on is my bathrobe. I wouldn’t say that it is the best looking piece I own, but it keeps me warm and cozy. I know a lot of people who have fancy robes. Go for it, if that is your thing.
Just make sure you start your day with something you like, not something that makes you feel like getting back into bed. Slippers work too.
